Matthias Gehrke, born 1961 in Frankfurt, Germany, is teaching at FOM since 2006. He was appointed to a professorship 2009, with main focus on costs and controlling. His actual field of research is finance and applied statistics. Following his study in chemistry Matthias did his PhD in structural determination of natural substances. After that he got shareholder in a company for measurement instrumentation. 1993 he founded a company for medical equipment in Leipzig, Germany, where he was shareholder and managing director until 2004. At FOM he is associated member of ifes – Institute for Empirics and Statistics and isf – Institute for Strategic Finance. He is engaged in promoting applied statistics in teaching and research. Matthias lives with his wife in Frankfurt, the three children are already grown-up and went their own way.
