Great analysis begins with great data, and great data for platforms like SoundCloud often begins with great event tracking. With user experiences that often vary across different client implementations (soundcloud.com versus the SoundCloud iOS and Android apps), how does one design a tracking framework that works effectively across multiple apps?
The Holistic Tracking Initiative is a project at SoundCloud aimed at unifying and standardizing the way we do user behavior tracking across all SoundCloud experiences by aligning tracking logic with a platform's underlying information architecture. The talk will introduce an overview of the framework along with motivations behind the project, challenges faced along the way, and several interesting use case analyses that are made possible when following this framework.
